We're Over It: Cardboard Boxes
There is a game changer in the moving industry: The future is plastic bins.
We’re Over It: CARDBOARD BOXES
We spent this past week feverishly weeding and packing for our move. Michelle got rid of two-thirds of her clothing. Ben didn’t notice a difference.
Michelle threw away clothing she hadn’t worn in over two years because it was a homage to Marie Kondo, she’s emotional, and their new apartment has way less closet space.
Everyone’s familiar with those annoying cardboard boxes: taping them together only to see them disintegrate as you put too much weight in them. Well move over you cardboard cucks, there’s something new. (Or at least new to us.) We just discovered the wonder of rentable, durable plastic bins. The company drops them off at your old place and picks them up a week or so later at the new home. Brilliant! Good for the environment! And best of all, they stack higher, making it much easier for children to climb, jump and fall.
Earlier this week we got a delivery of forty rental bins. They call them “medium size.” We call them “huge.”
Upon their arrival, Ben measured the height and width of a bin and then measured the length of the floor to the ceiling to see if there would be enough room in the house to stack them all up once they were filled.
Michelle called Ben a crazy person. Who does that? If there is no surface room in the apartment, put them outside! Lord knows our landlords want the whole house to themselves anyway so they wouldn’t care even if we put the overflow bins on their kids.
We’re Over It: SUCCESSFUL ARTISTS
Cartoonist Dave Ostow explains why we’re moving into a smaller apartment.
(P.S. The more private comedy shows you book, the less likely we are to live in a cardboard box.)
We’re Over It: FEMALE MOVING COMPANIES
In the above 39-second video, comedian Ryan Long shares his thoughts on the concept of an all-female moving company.
(Note for the complaints department: Michelle’s the one who found and shared this video, plus it’s not Women’s History Month til March, so shove it.)
WHAT ARE YOU OVER?
When’s the last time you moved? Any tips? Have you recovered yet?
